Israel warns citizens to beware Facebook spy requests

FaceBookJERUSALEM (CNN) — Terrorism groups are using Facebook and other social networking sites to recruit Israeli citizens as spies, the Israeli authorities warned Monday.

Shin Bet, Israel’s security agency, published a statement warning Israelis about the risks of trading classified information for money.

“The Shin Bet has gotten many reports about cases where terrorist elements are using the Internet to get in touch with Israelis with proposals to enlist in terror activity or to pass classified information in exchange for payment,” the statement said. Read more…

Alleged Confession Of A Terrorist Leader

Ahmed Abed Ahmed Khamees al-MujamaieBAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — The Iraqi government published what it said was the confession of a top terrorist leader in the country Monday, closely a month after the government claimed to have caught him.

Government-run Iraqiya TV exhibited a news conference by Maj. Gen. Qassim Atta, spokesman for Baghdad Operations Command, and a short clip of a man the authorities says is Abu Omar al-Baghdadi.

The man in the video says that his name is “Ahmed Abed Ahmed Khamees al-Mujamaie,” that he “joined al Qaeda in Iraq in 2005″ and that the following year, he “became the emir [leader] of the Islamic State of Iraq,” an umbrella group that encompasses al Qaeda in Iraq. Read more…
