New Calvin Klein ‘Threesome’ Billboard Draws Ire

New Calvin Klein Threesome BillboardA steamy Calvin Klein billboard that seems to show a teenage girl in a threesome is raising eyebrows and ire in the streets of New York. Some passersby says that the world known clothing company has crossed the line with its sexy advertisement.

“One girl. Three guys. No shirts. It’s not the best way to depict women,” said by a tourist who was passing by the extremely large billboard in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood. “I don’t care if it’s New York City. I think it’s really inappropriate.”

The new Calvin Klein billboard shows a young woman lying on top of a man, while kissing another man. They’re on a sofa, all three models are topless. Another male model reclines on the floor with his shirt and jeans unbuttoned.

“It’s borderline pornographic,” said neighborhood resident who was disturbed by the youthfulness of the models.

New York-based Calvin Klein has long been known for provocative advertising. Brooke Shields famously advertised second-skin Calvin Klein jeans in 1981 when she was a teenager, while model Kate Moss has also appeared in sexy ads. The billboard uses sex to sell Calvin Klein jeans, and it is not the first time – and that’s why some people just shrug it off.

Asked about the message in the ad, a Calvin Klein spokesman said the “intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic.”

A billboard is supposed to catch your eye, and in this instance, consider that mission accomplished.

I guess the new Calvin Klein billboard got the attention it wants.
