The Pittsburgh Penguins wins Stanley Cup Finals, defeating the defending champion Detroit Red Wings in their home arena.
The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame the loss of captain Sidney Crosby and a lot of history to beat the Red Wings 2-1 in Game 7 and win the Stanley Cup for the third time in franchise history. Sidney Crosby at suffered a left leg injury, on a solid hit by Johan Franzen, that forced the Penguins to play without him.
Max Talbot scored two second-period goals, while Marc-Andre Fleury had a stellar performance by making 23 saves, erasing the bad memories of a 5-0 loss in Game 5 of their series in this same arena. Read more…
